SCIENCE on Friday
Friday the 11th was a blur to me. I know we did Science but no homework was assigned.
I wanted to distinguish the difference between State of Matter vs Properties of Matter
States of Matter: Solid, Liquid and Gas
Using Water as an example:
Like other types of matter, water can form into these State of Matter
Properties: Mass, Volume and Shape
Mass involves how large or small something is. Weight is a contributing factor to mass.
Volume involves the amount of space matter will take up.
Shape is tricky to explain sometimes but the hot air inside the balloon starts to give shape to the materials it is in and helps the balloon to float. We can sometimes guide the shape of materials differently than others. Gases don't really have a shape whereas liquid can be put into shape and solids already have it.
We also talked about what makes a substance with things remaining the same: To make a water molecule you must always have a combination of 1 Oxygen atom attach to 2 Hydrogen atoms. If you don't have the right combination of atoms, you don't have a water molecule.
HOMEROOM on Friday the 11th
We did a follow up on presentations on rules with examples and non-examples.
Moving on to Monday the 14th
MATH
7th Grade we looked at the NEW 7.EE.B.4
We found the NEED was being able to solve and write two step equations.
8th Grade we looked at the NEW 8.EE.B.5
We found the NEED was being able to write two step equations.
Over the next couple of days, you will work in IXL on 7th Grade Math Skills
S. 2 Write an equation from words
S. 6 Solve two-step equations (with variables)

HOMEROOM: We finished up the rules examples and non-examples presentations. We spent time going over how to organize your life with your technology tools. Here I will show you a step by step example how to put an event or class in your Microsoft Calendar. I did this in a prior blog for Google Calendar so if you have a Google Calendar I would use that or check out that blog.
I tried to create a Screencastify video to show you the steps for making a Calendar Event but it is linked to my Google account and work on Microsoft doesn't carry over.
Follow the pictures and steps below
Start by logging into Office.com off of the school website. This has all of your apps on it and Calendar is one of them just like Teams, Word, Excel, etc. You have an app for calendar.
Click New Event as you see circled in red.
From this picture you will see steps highlighted in color and number.
Step 1 put your title of your event (example: Math class)
Step 2 you can create your own events and add people to it here but adding their email
Step 3 You set the date and the time it start and ends of you event
Step 4 Here you set what days it will be. (Example: if you know you have Math on Monday and Thursday you can repeat this for every Monday and Thursday for the rest of the school year) I suggest taking time on this. You can set your Math class for the year by doing it right this one time.
Step 5 Save it and you will see that the event is now set in your calendar.
I suggest setting reminders. I have reminders sent to the app on my phone that tells me 10 minutes before each class or meeting I need to be at so I never miss an event or run late for them.
